BUSH’S ECONOMY  by Betsy DeVos 3/25/2004 at 17:21
Democratic presidential candidates have spent the better part of the last 9 months and $30 million attacking President Bush and trying to blame him for the economic situation in the country. However, the facts are starting to come out; let’s review a few of them: The economy was in trouble as President Bush entered Office - a stock market collapse that began in early 2000, a recession fully underway by early 2001, revelations of corporate scandals which were years in the making, and the September 11 attacks – each of these would have been enough to impact the economy. Taken together, our economy was dealt a deadly blow. However, the President took swift and firm action to right the ship. He worked with determination to cut taxes and put money back in the hands of the people, so they were free to spend it or invest it in creating new jobs and opportunities. As a result of his stewardship, the national economy has seen growth at record levels for the last 2 quarters and shows similar strong signs for the foreseeable future. That the recovery has not caught on in Michigan is because of our state policies and a lack of action on the part of our governor, not the policies or actions of our President.
