KERRY’S GAS GAFF  by Betsy DeVos 4/21/2004 at 17:52
Here’s another one for the “There he goes again” category: John Kerry is now accusing President Bush of cutting a "backroom deal" to lower gas prices. The problem for Kerry is, there is no backroom deal. As the Saudi’s themselves have said, it is in their own best interest to keep gas prices low. They had the same conversation with President Clinton. They had the same conversation with the first President Bush. They had the same conversation with President Reagan. They had the same conversation with President Carter. Need we go back further? So, maybe what John Kerry is really criticizing is the fact that President Bush is working to keep gasoline prices low for Americans. But then again, history tells us that John Kerry would prefer higher gas prices. He has voted to raise them 11 times.
