Governor Granholm and her "stonewalling machine" again managed to make sure that the Board of Ethics would not take up the Michigan Republican Party’s Request for Investigation into the obvious conflict of interest in the Governor’s Office. Not that WE expected anything different, but it is sad to confirm that your Governor somehow thinks she and her office are not subject to the same scrutiny that others at lower levels of state government are. Funny, at the same time I read a "thought experiment" from Dan Pero, former campaign manager for Governor Engler, who talked about what life would be like if the Democrats controlled the state legislature (MIRS, 5-28-04). The quote that stood out the most, "With Republicans relegated to minority status, this Administration would have been emboldened to hire cronies like Dave Katz and all the Granholm/McNamara integrity challenged pals who drove the ethics car off the cliff in Wayne County. " Seems they are establishing that sort of pattern anyway.
