Schostak: Obama fails to address three years of failed policies

January 24, 2012

LANSING, Mich., Jan. 24, 2012 – The following is a statement from Bobby Schostak, chairman of the Michigan Republican Party, in response to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address:
“Talk is no longer cheap in under Barak Obama. Every time President Obama addresses the nation it seems like he has a new strategy to spend more money, acquire more debt and raise new taxes. Sadly, tonight was no different.

“Tonight’s vague rhetoric about job creation was overshadowed by the Obama’s three years of failed policies.

“Suggesting to the citizens that his plan is working, that the results are showing and that his policies are improving the lives of Americans is nothing but more campaign rhetoric, and is very unfortunate and disheartening to the middle class taxpayers in Michigan and across the country who are feeling the real effects of his failed policies.

“Healthcare costs for families have risen by more than nine percent. More than 360,000 Americans are on unemployment since Obama took office. Obama has added more than $4.5 trillion to our national debt. This is an unsustainable amount of debt that will cripple American generations to come.

“Tonight, Obama failed to openly and honestly, and in any fashion, adequately address his numerous failed attempts to put our country back onto a path to prosperity. Obama has made it clear he is far more concerned with his reelection campaign than pursuing substantive policy to improve the lives of everyday Americans.”
