Sen. Stabenow fails to pass a budget for 1,000 Days

MRP launches NoBudgetDebbie.com, No Budget Clock and “Enough is Enough” web video

LANSING, Mich., Jan. 24, 2012 – The Michigan Republican Party today launched NoBudgetDebbie.com, a website commemorating one thousand days of failure. The site provides visitors a “No Budget Clock,” marking more than one thousand days since the U.S. Senate passed a budget. In addition to NoBudgetDebbie.com and the No Budget Clock, the Michigan Republican Party released its first web video against Sen. Stabenow, titled, “Enough is Enough.”

“Today marks Sen. Stabenow’s one thousand days of failure, one thousand days without a budget – enough is enough,” said Bobby Schostak, chairman of the Michigan Republican Party. “Every working family and small business in America knows the importance of a budget. Senator Debbie Stabenow and the Democrat-led U.S. Senate’s failure to pass a budget in one thousand days defies common sense. It’s time to replace Senator Stabenow, we need new leadership in Washington, DC.”

The last time the U.S. Senate passed a budget was on April 29, 2009. (U.S. Senate Roll Call Vote 173, 4/29/09) The web video, “Enough is Enough,” reinforces the Democratic-led U.S. Senate’s failure to pass a budget by contrasting with various buildings and structures that were built in less than one thousand days, including The Empire State Building, Eiffel Tower and Sears Tower.

“We intend to continue to remind voters of Sen. Stabenow’s failed record of supporting higher taxes, more spending and more debt,” continued Schostak. “Today’s announcement highlights the dysfunction that has taken place on Sen. Stabenow’s watch. Either she’s complacent that there is no budget or incompetent of standing up against her party’s refusal to pass a budget. The taxpayers of Michigan and across the United States expect and demand more from their elected officials.”

The Michigan Republican Party’s launch of NoBudgetDebbie.com is its first informational website and web video exposing Sen. Stabenow failed record.
