Board of Canvassers Affirms Michigan Voters Choice of Trump

Certification of Vote Shows Trump wins Michigan by Significant Margin

LANSING, Mich., Nov. 28, 2016 – The Michigan Board of Canvassers certified the election results from November 8, 2016 declaring Donald J. Trump officially the winner of the Presidential election in Michigan by a margin of 10,704 votes. According to the Michigan Secretary of State’s office, Donald Trump received 2,279,543 votes, Hillary Clinton received 2,268,839 votes and Green Party candidate Jill Stein received only 51,463 votes.

“The voters in Michigan have spoken and Donald Trump has officially won”, stated MRP Chairman Ronna Romney McDaniel. “It is time for all to accept the results of this election and the will of the Michigan voters.”

Last week, there were several reports that Green Party Candidate Jill Stein might seek a recount of Michigan votes, despite the wide margin by which President-Elect Trump won Michigan.

“There is no reason for a recount. It is a waste of time and disrespectful to all Michigan voters,” stated McDaniel. “There is no possible way Dr. Stein can win and she admits there is no evidence of fraud. It is time to move forward. Hillary Clinton should denounce this reckless recount and accept the outcome of the election like she hoped others would had she won.”

The Michigan Republican Party is committed to ensuring the November 8, 2016 election results will be upheld. For more information on how to help in those efforts, go to: migop.org/recount
