LANSING, Mich., January 30, 2020 – The Michigan Republican Party released the following statement on behalf of Chairman Laura Cox, regarding President Trump's visit to Michigan today, to celebrate the signing of the United States-Mexico-Canada Agreement (USMCA). The agreement is projected to add $68.2 billion of investment into our economy, and create 176,000 jobs – much of which is expected to be concentrated in Michigan.
"Thanks to the bold leadership of President Trump and Congressional Republicans, the USMCA is now a reality. This renewed agreement brings our trade relationship with Mexico and Canada into the 21st Century. For far too long, our workers, farmers and manufacturers here in Michigan have been unfairly taken advantage of by NAFTA's outdated terms. By leveling the playing field for our producers, the president has reaffirmed his support for the people of Michigan. Simply put, the USMCA is a win for Michiganders."
