Sen. Patrick Colbeck, candidate for Governor, will speak at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday, May 15, to the Eastside Republican Club at The War Memorial, 32 Lake Shore Rd., Grosse Pointe Farms.
Colbeck is campaigning for the GOP gubernatorial nomination to be decided by voters in the Aug. 7 Republican primary. Primary winners then face off on the Nov. 6 General Election ballot to succeed term-limited Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder.
Dr. Annette DeSantis Feldpausch, club chairman, commented on Colbeck in a statement in advance of the meeting.
“Patrick Colbeck stepped away from his job as an aerospace engineer to work for the people of his western Wayne senate district and now hopes to serve all of Michigan,” she said.
“He has a reputation as one who stands by his word, and apparently his constituents agree, as he was reelected to a second term in 2014.”
“Senator Colbeck will share his principled solutions for Michigan, and explain how best to keep Michigan on the right course.”
Feldpausch added, “The Forum is open to the public at no charge, so we invite anyone interested in Michigan government to take part in the discussion with Senator Colbeck following his remarks.”
Colbeck presently represents Michigan's 7th Senate District (Canton, Livonia, Northville, Plymouth, and the City of Wayne).
He is a graduate of the University of Michigan with bachelors and masters degrees in aerospace engineering as well as a graduate of the International Space University in Strasbourg, France. Among his more than 20 years of engineering and management is work on systems for the International Space Station and instruction of students at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center’s Space Camp.
Colbeck is co-founder and board member for the Freedom Center hospitality center at Metro Airport and the Troy Military Entrance Processing Station.
Awards he has received include the Sen. Paul Fannin Statesman of the Year Award for leadership in making Michigan the 24thRight to Work state, and Legislator of the Year Awards from The Senior Alliance, Police Officers Association, and Associated Builders and Contractors.
The Eastside Republican Club Forum meets monthly from September to May. Admission is free and the public is always welcome. Learn more at the ERC’s Page on Facebook.
