Gillibrand and O’Rourke Race to the Radical Left!
LANSING, Mich., March 18, 2019 – Today, Democrat Presidential Candidates Kirsten Gillibrand and Beto O’Rourke used their Michigan campaign stops to appeal to the most radical elements of the Democrat party. In a desperate attempt to court progressives and socialists, the candidates each made a laundry list of promises including the public financing of campaigns, government-run healthcare, free college, and the passage of the budget-busting Green New Deal. There was no indication on how either would pay for their plans, but the cost for the Green New Deal alone has been estimated at $93 trillion over ten years or $600,000 per American family.
In an MSNBC town hall in Auburn Hills, Gillibrand reportedly told the audience, “we should be brave enough to fight for Medicare for all. We should be brave enough to fight for a Green New Deal,” despite the fact that the Green New Deal would hit Michigan’s manufacturing and agricultural industries especially hard. O’Rourke has previously said that, “the future of the world” depends on the $93 trillion boondoggle.
In line with the Democrats race to the left, video surfaced today of Gillibrand saying that firearms manufacturers, “want to sell an assault rifle to a teenager in a Walmart.” Previously, Gillibrand supported 2nd amendment rights.
“Today, Gillibrand and O’Rourke engaged in a game of progressive one-upmanship, promising money our nation doesn’t have, on government takeovers it doesn’t need.” said Laura Cox, Michigan Republican Party Chairman. Cox continued, “If the socialist plans being voiced by the Democrat Presidential field become a reality the losers of the Democrat Party’s race to the left will be the American people.”
