A Michigan Judge Slammed Democrat Candidate for Wayne State Board of Governors, Shirley Stancato, for breaking the law when filing to run for the office
LANSING, Mich., September 18, 2020 — In an opinion issued yesterday by Judge Christopher Murray, Democrat candidate for Wayne State (WSU) Board of Governors, Shirley Stancato, was slammed for violating state election law when filing to run for the position. Judge Murray stated in his opinion that there “appears no dispute” that Stancato lied on her affidavit, and that claims to the contrary were “simply not true”. However, due to the majority of ballots already being printed, Murray allowed Stancato to remain on the ballot.
“Judge Murry has confirmed what we already knew, Shirley Stancato broke the law and does not belong on the ballot.” said Michigan Republican Party Chairman Laura Cox. Cox continued, “It’s clear Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson is playing politics by allowing a fellow Democrat to commit this violation and still appear on the ballot. Shame on her.”
