Cox Statement On Charges Filed In Wayne County Canvasser’s Case

LANSING, Mich., December 24, 2020 – The following statement is from Michigan Republican Party Chairman Laura Cox, regarding the charges being filed against those who threatened Republican Wayne County Canvasser Monica Palmer and her young daughter.

“I am disgusted by the graphic threats sent to Monica Palmer and her young daughter, over her job as a canvasser in Wayne County. These threats featured horrific images and descriptions depicting both rape and murder. This type of behavior is unacceptable in our society, and I am shocked and appalled. I am calling for our state’s top Democrats, including Governor Whitmer, to make clear that this will not be tolerated and that whoever takes part in these types of actions will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

Gretchen Whitmer enlists 'Santa' to back 'stay home' COVID-19 Christmas message for kids: 'Mask up'

Douglas Ernst, The Washington Times

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer brought in the big guns to convince children to obey her COVID-19 rules: Santa Claus.

“Saint Nick” joined the Michigan Democrat this week for a “Special Holiday Message” with a handful of kids.

“Santa, do you have to wear a mask?” kids asked in the stream uploaded to the lawmaker’s official YouTube channel.

“I think we’re so far up North that it might not be getting to us,” Ms. Whitmer’s guest replied Wednesday. “But we’re not gonna take any chances. We’re all gonna mask up. We’re all gonna wash our hands, and we’re all gonna stay six feet apart. What I would suggest to do is what the governor is telling all the people of the great state of Michigan to do. Social distance, wash your hands, and make sure you wear your mask when you’re outside your home.”

The governor concurred and told the children it wasn’t safe to visit family members for Christmas.

“Another another way to stay safe during the holiday is to stay home,” she said. “Call your grandparents and your cousins and your family. And it’s the safest way to tell the people you love how much you care about them.”

Parents who disagreed with the Democrat and “Santa” were prohibited from sharing their views; the comments section was turned off.

Cox Statement On Michigan Legislature's COVID Relief

LANSING, Mich., December 21, 2020 – The following statement is from Michigan Republican Party Chairman Laura Cox, regarding the Michigan legislature passing a COVID relief package.

“I am proud of the work Republicans in the State Senate and House did to ensure the passage of this much needed COVID relief package. It is a shame that Governor Whitmer’s crippling policies have warranted such steps, but where she failed to support Michigan businesses and families, Republicans in the legislature stepped up to the plate. The final step to providing permanent relief for our state and its citizens is to once and for all do away with Governor Whitmer’s failed lockdowns.”

Cox Statement On Whitmer Shutdown Extension

LANSING, Mich., December 18, 2020 – The following statement is from Michigan Republican Party Chairman Laura Cox, regarding Governor Whitmer’s Administration extending her shutdown policy.

“I am happy to see that Governor Whitmer has decided to let our kids go back to school after coming under pressure from the Michigan Republican Party and others. However, I am disappointed that Governor Whitmer continues to ignore the pleas of citizens across Michigan who are suffering personally and financially due to her shutdown policies. I condemn Governor Whitmer’s decision to keep many small businesses closed, and hope she reverses this course of action so that Michigan families can have financial stability this holiday season.”

Whitmer's Shutdowns Spike Joblessness

LANSING, Mich., December 17, 2020 – After months of warning signs that Governor Whitmer’s shutdown policies would cripple Michigan’s economy, a new report shows Michigan’s unemployment rate went up for the first time since April.

According to the Detroit News, “Michigan's seasonal unemployment rate increased… in November to 6.9%”. This troubling statistic comes after reports that nearly half of all restaurants will remain closed until after the end of the pandemic, after Governor Whitmer banned indoor dining, crippling the industry.

“These new reports show that Governor Whitmer’s shutdowns continue to cause economic casualties that are destroying people’s livelihoods and crippling them financially.” said Michigan Republican Party Chairman Laura Cox. Cox continued, “Whitmer’s continued bypass of the people’s representatives in the legislature shows that she has no regard for how her policies affect real people. Governor Whitmer must put aside her partisanship and pride and roll back her shutdown policies before they do irreparable damage to Michigan’s economy and its citizens.”

Benson Snubs State House Hearing

LANSING, Mich., December 16, 2020 – After weeks of investigations produced significant evidence of election irregularities, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson refused to testify before the House Oversight Committee, further cementing our election’s lack of transparency.

In a letter issued Tuesday, Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson said she refused to testify before the House Oversight Committee, which has been investigating the rampant election irregularities that took place during the November 2020 election. According to the Detroit News, Benson claimed “the GOP-controlled panel was ‘amplifying already debunked conspiracy theories’”, despite the fact that her own office agreed to audit the election results based on the numerous election irregularities.

“Jocelyn Benson has proven yet again that she is incapable of putting aside her partisanship in order to do her job and answer for the unacceptable levels of election irregularities experienced this November.” said Michigan Republican Party Chairman Laura Cox. Cox continued, “Benson’s testimony is a vital piece of evidence in these investigations, and her attempts to sidestep this responsibility is another example of her disregard for the people’s elected representatives. I call on Secretary Benson to reverse course and give the people of Michigan the election transparency they deserve.”

Cox Statement On Reported Jennifer Granholm Appointment

LANSING, Mich., December 15, 2020 – The following statement is from Michigan Republican Party Chairman Laura Cox, regarding the reports that former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm will be tapped by Joe Biden to serve as Energy Secretary in a potential Biden Administration.

“Jennifer Granholm’s tenure as Governor of Michigan was a disaster for the people of our state, and I have no doubt that her lack of executive ability would make her a terrible Energy Secretary. The fact that Joe Biden would pick for his potential cabinet, an individual who was responsible for Michigan’s lost decade, which saw jobs and a generation of young Michiganders exit our state, is an insult. When Jennifer Granholm was Governor, people joked that the last one out of Michigan should turn out the lights. Now, Joe Biden wants to give the worst Governor in Michigan’s history the power to leave our nation in the dark.”

President Trump’s Vaccine Promise Delivered

LANSING, Mich., December 15, 2020 – After months of media skepticism, Americans began receiving COVID-19 vaccinations yesterday thanks to President Trump and Operation Warp Speed.

Despite a media driven narrative that President Trump would not be able to deliver a vaccination by the end of the year, a Michigan-based production plant began shipping out the Pfizer vaccine across the nation this past weekend. According to the Detroit News, “The rollout of the Pfizer vaccine… ushers in the biggest vaccination effort in U.S. history” with the Chief Science Advisor to Operation Warp Speed, Dr. Moncef Slaoui, noting this was “a remarkable achievement of science, academia, the industry ecosystem and the U.S. government, working together.”. The first vaccinations were administered Monday morning to front line workers across America.

“The distribution of the Pfizer vaccine across America is an unprecedented and historic moment for our nation, thanks to the leadership of President Trump and Operation Warp Speed.” said Michigan Republican Party Chairman Laura Cox. Cox continued, “The media tried everything to discourage Americans from believing President Trump’s promise of a vaccine by year’s end, yet once again, President Trump proved them wrong. Thanks to President Trump’s leadership, this pandemic will come to an end and we are grateful for his administration’s efforts.”

In the coming days, Operation Warp Speed will ensure the safe and rapid distribution of the vaccination at no cost, to all Americans. History will look back on this moment as a monumental success thanks to the hard work and dedication of President Trump and his administration.”
