Peters High On Big Doses of Pharma Cash As He Tells Voters He’s “On The Side Of People”

Peters’ campaigns, and his pockets, have been filled by drug companies for years

LANSING, Mich., September 22, 2020 – Gary Peters is on TV with a new ad today telling voters he is “on the side of people” because he is “taking on drug companies.”

The only thing Gary is “taking” is a high dose of drug company cash.

Campaign Contributions: Peters’ various political committees have taken $194,000 from drug company corporate and employee PACs since entering Congress.

Personal Profits: Peters has reported thousands in personal income as a result of his holdings in major drug companies, per financial disclosures in Congress:

  • Between $2,012 and $10,600 in income from holdings in Abbott Laboratories
  • Between $2,609 and $10,500 in income from holdings in AbbVie
  • Between $2,412 and $12,000 in income from holdings in Bristol-Myers Squibb
  • Between $2,412 and $12,000 in income from holdings in Merck
  • Between $2,412 and $12,000 in income from holdings in Pfizer
  • Between $1,001 and $5,000 in income from holdings in Teva Pharmaceuticals

“Taking ON the drug companies? It’s more like Peters is taking IN lots of drug company cash,” said Michigan Republican Party Chairman Laura Cox. “Gary Peters is the worst kind of career politician who says one thing but does another. He is exactly why Americans are so frustrated with the swamp. After John James beats Gary Peters on November 3rd, we will have a political outsider on Michigan’s side, looking out for us.”
