This morning, Speaker Lee Chatfield unveiled the Michigan House of Representatives’ plan for re-opening the state. This regional, risk-based roadmap for Michigan’s comeback and recovery seeks to continue to mitigate the spread of the disease, while allowing the industrious people of Michigan to go back to work.
The plan also includes a task force with nine voting members across various sectors directly impacted by the coronavirus outbreak. In addition to safely re-opening the state, the plan outlines how to re-energize the economy and set the precedent for a new normal. This plan closely follows Michigan Senate Majority Leader Mike Shirkey’s bipartisan task force to “Open Michigan Safely”.
“This is the leadership Michigan needs right now, and the strong, commonsense, regional plan Republicans have put forth is an excellent start for getting our state back on track.” said Laura Cox, Michigan Republican Party Chairman. Cox continued, “I applaud Speaker Chatfield and Majority Leader Shirkey for trying to get Michiganders back to work while also protecting their safety with this science-based approach.”
