Today, Fox News reported that The Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust (FACT) filed an official complaint with the Office of Congressional Ethics (OCE) against Representative Haley Stevens for using her official capacity as a member of Congress to fundraise for her reelection campaign.
Stevens, who sent a fundraising email to her supporters on Saturday, used an official photo from her floor speech the previous day on the House Floor entitled “Hello from The Capitol”. In the floor speech from Friday, she was ruled “out of order” by the House Chair, a member of her own party, when she started shouting over her peers to finish her speech.
“Representative Stevens was out of order when she was shouting on the House floor on Friday, and she was out of line when she sent this email trying to raise money for her political campaign.” said Laura Cox, Michigan Republican Party Chairman. Cox continued, “It is wholly inappropriate that Stevens is using her government resources and status as a member of Congress to solicit campaign funds, and I am confident OCE will recognize that.”
