Governor Whitmer used her official office correspondence to release a politically charged statement regarding Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett
LANSING, Mich., September 28, 2020 — As she continues to receive criticism for her deadly COVID-19 response, Governor Gretchen Whitmer is now under fire for abuse of her official office correspondence.
This weekend, Governor Whitmer issued a politically charged statement regarding the nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barret to the United States Supreme Court, using taxpayer funds for partisan gain, and breaking longstanding precedent.
“Governor Whitmer’s abuse of her taxpayer-funded office to make politically charged statements is unacceptable” said Michigan Republican Party Chairman Laura Cox. Cox continued, “Instead of playing politics on the people of Michigan’s dime, Governor Whitmer should focus on fixing the issues she has caused in Michigan with her disastrous COVID-19 response.”
