After the Michigan Supreme Court ruled Governor Whitmer’s Executive Orders unconstitutional, she launched a partisan attack against justices
LANSING, Mich., October 5, 2020 — Last week, Governor Whitmer’s unchecked power grab was dealt a devastating blow by the Michigan Supreme Court, when they ruled that her executive orders were unconstitutional. Immediately following the court’s ruling, Whitmer launched a litany of partisan attacks against the Michigan Supreme Court.
Governor Whitmer targeted the conservative justices of the Michigan Supreme Court, claiming that her powers were deemed unconstitutional only “on a slim majority Republican vote”. This is despite the fact that even her own Attorney General is refusing to enforce her Executive Orders after the ruling.
Whitmer then went on to stump for the Democrat endorsed Supreme Court candidates up for election this November.
“Governor Whitmer’s behavior shows that she not only has contempt for Michigan law, but also for our state’s duly elected Supreme Court.” said Michigan Republican Party Chairman Laura Cox. Cox continued, “It’s time for the Governor to recognize the other branches of our state government and the will of Michigan voters, and work with the legislature to come up with a responsible plan to handle COVID-19 in Michigan.”
