Yesterday, in an interview with Sinclair Broadcast Group, Governor Gretchen Whitmer admitted that her administration has no real plan on how Michigan will move forward in the weeks ahead. In the interview, when asked if her current stay at home order will be extended, Whitmer stated, “I can’t tell you where we’re going to be 10 days from now. I can tell you that we will continue to be guided by the science, listening to our epidemiologists, but at this point in time, I can tell you I hope not. But we’re going to go where the facts and data guides us.” Yet, Whitmer has refused to share such data with Michiganders and the Governor has yet to show how the state will move forward in safely and strategically reengaging its economy.
“Governor Whitmer has yet to provide a plan or show that there is light at the end of the tunnel for the millions of Michiganders currently struggling through this pandemic.” said Laura Cox, Michigan Republican Party Chairman. “Every day has been a ‘wait and see’ kind of message from the Governor, and yet businesses are closing, and people are unable to access unemployment benefits. This inaction has been detrimental for our state. Governor Whitmer owes the state of Michigan a plan for re-opening, and she needs to work with the Legislature to get it done.”
