In a report obtained by the Detroit News, Governor Gretchen Whitmer’s task force has recommended ceasing her deadly nursing home policy.
LANSING, Mich., September 1, 2020— According to reporting in the Detroit News, a task force appointed by Governor Whitmer has refuted the deadly nursing home policy that the governor has received immense criticism for. The task force recommended that Governor Whitmer “seek to limit the sending of COVID-19 positive individuals to nursing homes”, a direct challenge to the policy that Governor Whitmer has so vehemently defended.
“Governor Whitmer now stands alone in her defense of this deadly policy which has needlessly taken the lives of so many of our state’s seniors.” Michigan Republican Party Chairman Laura Cox said today, “I only wish that instead of playing politics, Governor Whitmer had listened to bipartisan calls across the country to scrap this illogical policy, which would have certainly saved countless lives.”
It is unclear if the governor will follow the recommendations of her task force, but what is clear is that this recommendation comes too late for the families who have lost loved ones to this reckless policy.
