In a shocking move, the MEA endorsed Democrat Brad May this week, who has a long history of criminal activity.
LANSING, Mich., September 18th, 2020 — In a shocking move, the Michigan Education Association (MEA) endorsed Democrat Brad May, who has a long history of criminal activity. May’s convictions include robbery, possession of cocaine, retail fraud, and over $16,000 in back-due child support.
“Obviously, the MEA is more concerned with the "D" next to Mr. May's name on the ballot than trying to support the most qualified candidate for their teacher members.” said Michigan Republican Party Chairman Laura Cox. Cox continued, “I call on the MEA to immediately rescind their endorsement of Brad May and apologize to their members - our hard-working teachers - for this embarrassing display.”
This is not the first time the MEA has made an endorsement that goes against the interests of teachers. The MEA received similar criticism with their endorsement of Laurie Pohutsky, a Democrat who voted against record funding for schools, over Martha Ptashnik, a teacher who chairs the math department at one of the largest high schools in Livonia
